new york city accommodations

I will be traveling with my family of 2 adults and 2 teenage children to NYC (Manhattan) for Thanksgiving and am interested in an apt. type accommodation, 1-2 bedroom or 2 room suite at a minimum. We are trying to avoid just booking 2 hotel rooms. Does anyone have any suggestions in the $250-$300 range, preferably in the Midtown area. We are flexible in areas as long as it safe to walk at night. We prefer to be able to walk to theater but this is not essential. Thanks!

You might want to repost this on the U.S. forum.

For coherent replies, you will want to post this on the US board.

But as a recent visitor to Manhattan, I would encourage you to look for a hotel in Greenwich Village. I stayed there in August '04 and loved it.

Midtown is CRAZY, and I swear it's set up for trapping the tourists in a few over-stuffed, overpriced blocks where there's never a moment of quiet at night, much less peace from the pickpockets.

Is your price PER room or total?

Jules

I realized too late that I posted this under Europe. Thanks for your replies. I added this to US section.

lajolla,

I've already replied to your post on the USA forum, but just in case....

The Best Western Hospitality House on West 49th could suit you. We stayed there in March & were very pleased with it plus it has excellent reviews on trip advisor. My only doubt is whether it would fit into your price bracket.

Here's a link to my trip report which includs all the details;

Hope this helps,
