If you don't get a response here, post your query on the tripadvisor.com France forum site--several local experts for Nice.

I've never been there on New Year's eve, but I wanted to tell you that the tram will be running and everything was almost completed when I left on September 26.

Where in Nice does the tram take you, and how much does it cost?

The tram will start at Rue Jean Medicine almost at the train station and will go all the way to the water at the end. Then it curves on around to the left facing the water, which will make it so easy to get to Vieux Nice. It looks really nice. They have made the big intersection at the pedestrian area into a nice paved plaza. I was amazed how it had changed since I was there in May.

I believe it will cost the same as the bus-$1.30 one way. I hope the day pass will be available for $4.00 as is the bus. I bought the day pass to go on the Direct bus(99) to the airport with my kids(they had to leave 5 days sooner than me). After they left, I went to Eze village on the same ticket.

I never thought I'd live to see the day when the tram was finished and the mess cleared up. Great news--thanks.
