New Year's Eve special dinner in Seville - Need recommendations

Hello Fodorites,

My parents are celebrating their 50th anniversary by taking all 12 of us on a trip to Spain. We are looking for a restaurant in Seville where we can enjoy a fine New Year's Eve dinner - and it will also be my parents' special anniversary dinner. I understand that most of the restaurants will be offering multi-course dinner-and-wine pairings. While that sounds very tempting, we will be going with 5 children (ages 13-19) who don't drink. We've seen the dinner menus of Hotel Alma and the Taberna del Alabardero but these aren't a la carte. We would like to find a restaurant that offers a la carte fine dining - any suggestions?

Thank you!

Restaurante Az-Zait in Plaza San Lorenzo could be a nice place for such an occasion. Both fixed menus without wine pairings and a la carta.

Hi kimhe,

I was hoping you would respond.

I was under the impression that for New Year's Eve, Az-Zait will not be offering a la carta dining? That will be such a great option if they offered it - I've been reading such excellent reviews about the restaurant.

Thank you.

I wasn't aware Az-Zait would be open on NYE.

I would call/mail and check it out. And the small fixed menu normally goes without wine pairings, use to be some 31€ or something.

I really do think it will be difficult to find a special restaurant OPEN on NYE's without some sort of a NYE celebration menu.

Would a very special Spanish time LATE lunch be appropriate.. 3 pm? and then enjoy evening wandering for a snack somewhere else at an hour more conducive to your normal schedule?

Here is the website for or the American's Women's Club of Sevilla. a quick note to them or some ads in a local English magazine may bring other unknown options.

If the Alfonso XII has reopened, (Robert.. do you know?) drinks and snacks there later in the bar area would be memorable. I'm afraid its renovation will be lengthy.

The Alfonso XII will probably not open before the start of Semanta Santa. Starwood expected the renovation to take at least 10 months, but you never know. The place needed a lot of work.

They're also working on the Maria Cristina, which closed at the end of the SS Film Festival and hope to have in open in time for next year's Jazz Festival in July.

Thank you for all your kind responses.

We will be dining at Az-Zait after the New Year as it is closed for New Year's Eve. For Dec. 31, we are having a late lunch at the Alma (as lincasanova suggested).

Looking forward to tasting Spain!

Thanks again!
