New Year's Eve in Denmark (Copenhagen)?
I'll be in Copenhagen for New Year's 2005. Is there anything that the Danes do in particular for New Year's (like Times Square in NY or revillon in Paris)?
Any closings I should be aware of that night? |

As Copenhagen is one of the livelier cities in Europe i'd be surprised if there weren't so i'm topping to find out.

I spent New Year's Eve in Copenhagen three years ago. Most restaurants are booked even for early dinner and I assume midnight activities are booked well in advance. We ended up "settling" for one of my favorite dinners ever - Mongolian Barbecue - in Copenhagen of all places!!! We didn't attend any formal celebrations but were entertained by fireworks all night long, even after we wanted to go to bed at 2:00 am. Down by Nyhavn harbor you can watch people setting off pyrotechnics throughout the night. By 11:00 we got bored and went back to our room. We were thoroughly entertained watching the Danish TV version of Rockin' New Yaer's Eve featuring Tom Jones. He was harder to understand than the Danes.

The year I lived there, there was a lot of drinking, eating and falling out of chairs... Anyway, it was Denmark, so it was fun. I was 17, so after the family party, we went to a dance club for dancing and a midnight champagne toast. It was pretty similar to what a lot of people do in the US.
