New Year's Eve
 

Hi<BR>I'm going to London in December and will spend my New Year's Eve there. Any suggestions what to do and where to go? Thanks!

Actually - most very large celebrations are now discouraged. Frolicking in the Trafalgar Sq fountains or at Piccadilly Circus can get you into trouble. Where are you staying? Most hotels have New Years Eve events. If you are on your own just viewing the fireworks and strolling along the Thames would be a treat. I am surprised Sheila did not suggest you take the train to Edinburgh - the BEST New Years anywhere.

I spent new years eve in london a few years a go we had the best time in a Irish pub Sheppards in the mayfair section I am in the bar business and found the Irish pubs to be a bit more like home they had extended hours for new years eve. Remember the pubs close early . if you wake up early there is a great parade on new years day in London

A friend of mine suggested a Thames cruise on New year's Eve. Promised me I wouldn't be on there with a bunch of tourists and said it's well worth the money. Go to www.citycruises.com and check it out. There's a couple different cruises (one more formal with sit down dinner - one more casual with a buffet). That's what we're doing. Trying to avoid drunken crowds whenever possible....
