New Year's Eve in Venice
We (a couple and not wild party goers) will be in Venice over the New Year period - first visit. Does anyone have any suggestions for what we could do on New Year's Eve?
Thanks Diz01 |
Your choices are slim and they're all viewable via the search feature.

I would suggest asking your hotel for suggestions. A lot of places are closed.

Most of the restaurants have a set menu for NYE. If you're not arriving in Venice until a few days prior and want to dine out I suggest you ask your hotel to book you in somewhere. The main centre for celebrations is in the Piazza where the crowds let off crackers and fireworks. At midnight there's a fireworks display. You should be aware that they shut down the vaporettos early (I think around 8pm or so) on NYE and they don't start up again until late morning on new year day.

Since when is the search feature working???

Thank you, mclaurie, for demonstrating that some people here are smart, patient, and resourceful (and pretty, too).
However, there are many newer threads than those you offered. Several of them feature comments by me. I don't think any Fodorite has spent as many NYE's in Venice as me, so forgive me for flaunting some authority. Diz01 is welcome to make a pot of coffee and read through all my posts to find the info he/she seeks. Considering network television's new fall line-up, my posts should prove a more winning form of info-tainment. |
"However, there are many newer threads than those you offered." Thank you for validating my question. Not that it needed it.

Ooops, I forgot to mention that all of my posts concerning NYE in Venice are under NYCFoodSnob. Sorry about that.
Holly's right, the search feature sucks. There isn't much point in defending it. |
Others have pointed out that using the advanced search feature on google, and specifying a search of only the domain fodors.com will yield the newer posts you seek. That's how I do it these days.
