New Year in Italy
We (8 people) were thinking about going to Italy for a New Year. Any suggestions? Would Greece be better? (We were in Barcelona last New Year and it was wonderful!).
Thank you in advance. |
I spent New Years 2003 in Rome..It was so much fun-everyone gathers in the piazzas and there are fireworks and bottles on wine and champagne and wine. When you're done drinking them you smash them on the floor. The weather in Rome was a lot nicer than spending a New Years here in NY also!

Thank you, colokev. Did you fly Alitalia? How much were the tickets? How much better than in NY was the weather? Thank you again.

Last year our family spent New Year's in Florence. We had a blast literally. Everyone gathers at the Duomo (largest cathedral in Florence) and drinks Asti Spamonti and champagne. Then bottles start smashing, fireworks, and singing. We ate at a wonderful trattoria - Garga. However, be prepared to spend alot of Euros that evening as they inflate menu prices just like U.S.

I spent New Year's Eve and Day 2005 in Rome with my hubby and 3 friends. It was fabulous! The Spanish Steps were insane, but we spent the evening following floats through the street, dancing to music, watching dramatic performances, and just partying! There was so much going on! Then on New Year's Day, my favorite, we got to see Pope John Paul II speak! Ah-mazing!

Thank you! How is the weather there? Do we need warm jackets (and how warm they should be)?
