New to This Travel Thing
I realise that this may be silly questions but I must ask.
1. Travelling from Australia to Croatia will take over 26hours with two stop overs. We will go from Brisbane to Singapore (get off plane for few hours at the airport) and hop on another plane to take us to Vienna. My question is what happens to the suitcases do the ground staff transfer the suitcases to the new plane or would I be responsible for making sure that the suitcases are on the plane with me? Pls help this travel thing is all new to me. |
If you are booked from Brisbane to Vienna, your luggage will be automatically transferred by the ground personnel. Whatever worries you may have about the transfer taking place, you cannot do anything about it. However, if there are some things that you must have upon your arrival, have it in your carry-on as long as it can legally be in your carry-on.

Ohh I see. Thanks Michael.

As Michael said, your luggage will be transferred from plane to plane by the airport staff. I travel every chance I get and have only ever had my luggage delayed once over the years. I once had a short layover time and my luggage didn't make it to the connecting flight in time. It made the trip on a later flight and was delivered to me by the airport staff once it arrived. It's kind of amazing how smoothly the whole luggage things goes when you think of the multitudes of people who pass through these airports each day! :-)
I keep the really important things in my carry-on bag or on my person; passport, credit card, money, hotel/car/tour reservation info, prescription medications, camera, and typically one change of clothes (or least a clean shirt and underwear) just in case... That's a big trip you're taking! Hope it's enjoyable and everything falls into place nicely for you. |
Wow im getting lot of great suggestions thank you cmerrell.

Is this the same airline for both flights?
|
Yes dayenu it is
|
And booked as one ticket?
|
I havent booked it as yet. But the web sight showed me two flight numbers with the same airline company so I naturally assumed that we will be changing plains. I am so new to this thing. Hope you can help.

Why people are asking you for more details is:
IF it was two separate tickets on two separate airlines, you might need to deal with claiming, then transfering and rechecking your own luggage (if there was no baggage agreement between the two airlines). But IF it is booked as a single ticket on the same airline, they will transfer your bag when you are changing planes. |
You can always confirm this when you check in

My ankles are swelling at just the thought of 26 hours on a plane. Forget the luggage, it'll be fine. Go look up plane exercises and especially foot/leg stretches. Hydrate really well the 48 hours before your flight and don't drink bloody mary's on the plane because you can't afford that much sodium.
But have a lovely trip! I'd love to go to Croatia. |
ahaaaa thanks all for your input. Never thought about the ankles, I better go and read the exercises now. Thank you all
