New rail link to the airport of Madrid
A new Cercanías line (C-1) to enter into service on 23 September. These suburban trains will link the airport (terminal T4), Chamartín station, Nuevos Ministerios, Paseo del Prado (near Cibeles), Atocha station, Estación Sur de Autobuses and Intercambiador Príncipe Pío.
Train frequency will be 30 minutes. Ticket: € 1.35 This line from the airport DOESN'T stop at terminals T1, T2, T3. C-1 timetable: http://img833.imageshack.us/img833/8...lla201109r.jpg C-1 line map: http://g.co/maps/sdm9u |

Thanks Revulgo!!! this is good news! (Planning to use the system in 2012 have started).
|
I hope to be able to get on that train next week. It will be just 15 minutes from home, lovely !

Thanks.
|
Yes!
Thanks..trains are always faster than buses. |
Excellent.
|
Good timing on this post - I'm arriving on the train's first day.
|
Wow will that make things easier.
|
Renfe just announced the ticket cost to Aeropuerto T4: €2.15
|
Hmm.
2.15 pp plus say 10E from the closest station to my residence or 38E from the airport . . . survey says: |
Arriving in Madrid alone ( and with minimum hand luggage )it sounds perfect to me. I can walk to my hotel near
Recoletos. On the other hand , if I were traveling with 2 small children and a lot of luggage.....extra 20 euros might be a good investment. |
Just seen a mistake. The train stops at Paseo de Recoletos (near Cibeles) not at Paseo del Prado.
|
Free shuttle bus service will be available from Aeropuerto T4 to terminals T1, T2 and T3.
|
if you need to wait for the shuttle bus at T1, 2 or 3, the get to the train at T4,I think it is as easy to take the Airport bus from in front of those terminals directly towards Atocha and get off either at Cibeles or the train station and then a taxi.
|
lincasanova,
that's true, but this line also serves Chamartín station and Estación Sur de Autobuses. |
Both, the bus and the train link are great.
I am always amazed at fantastic public transit in Madrid in Barcelona. ( as compared to most cities in North America ) |
right, revulgo.. all depends on where you're going, of course. Any new addition is welcomed! Always an improvement.
|
I wonder if this train will have special cops on it to protect passengers and their luggage like the present subway link has had everytime I've taken it?
|
Let's hope so!
|
hi, can you take the AVE from Seville and go to the airport by train. which station should you get off at in Madrid. Thanks. Trying to figure out how to get back from Seville to catch a plane out of Madrid.
|
Arrive at Atocha from Sevilla. Take C1 ( Look for "cercanías" area of train station) to Terminal 4.
My question is where exactly you buy the ticket for this C1 train? From a machine and also ticket window that says "Cercanías?".? If leaving from another terminal you MAY want to take the airport bus from Atocha ( outisde on side street) to your exact terminal to avoid taking yet another shuttle between T4 and the other T's. |
AVE and Cercanías with the same ticket

Well, I used it for the first time last Friday. I arrived a bit early to Chamartin because I couldn´t find any information saying if the train was going to stop always in the same platform or not.
The train is brand new, and it took a bit more than the announced 11 minutes to Barajas. Not a lot of people on board, and a problem I detected : most of the entrance doors have two steps to get into the train. There are some wheeling-chair doors, but as I said, most of them have those steps. OK if your luggage is small, but if it is big (there was one lady with two huge suitcases asking me if there were any porters ... no, sorry) or if you don´t manage quite well, it can be difficult. I think it is a good option if you are staying near the different stations, and going to the T4, but not so good if you have to go and change lines. Although it could open your mind to get a hotel in a different area (Plaza de Castilla near Chamartin, well located and a few 4 star hotels with great offers on weekends when the business travellers are not around ... for example). For me, it has been a much better option than my usual two metro lines, although I will probably use the metro to get to the T1 ... Bye, Cova |
