New Photos from Italy
For those of you interested in photography, I have many new photos from my recent trip to Italy.

I was there during the terrorist attacks and needless to say, it really deflated my enthusiam.

I hope everyone continues to travel, and that this conflict is resolved soon.

To view the photos, go here:

http://www.jimtardio.com/italy.html

Your photos are always so AMAZING, Jim! Man, does that make me want to be there right now. Thanks for sharing.
|
Love your B & W's!
|
Thanks for posting. I very much enjoyed the panoramics.

We are planning to visit in March.

Can't wait!
|
Jim: Love them all. Makes me want to return NOW. Regards, Sally
|
Jim,

Wonderful photos as usual. I only hope my as yet undeveloped ones from Italy can come close. I used several of your other photos as wallpapers at work to inspire me before my recent trip.
|
NO surprise, Jim. The photos are up to your usual standard.
By coincidence, my three favorites are a trio of panoramics at sunset--the gondolier in Venice (great composition for the panoramic dimensions!), sunset over Siena and dusk at the Aragonese Castle.
|
Thanks for the kind words, guys. And thank you to those that emailed me.

I'm having a great time reading all of the trip reports to Italy. Everyone here at Fodors must have visited Italy in the last few months, or is planning a visit in the next few months.
|
Absolutely love the panoramics also. I been to the same places in Italy you have. But you seem to have seen more of it than me.

Thanks for sharing.

Tina

p.s. I joined your mailing list.

Wonderful, just wonderful.
|
Wow, Jim! Those are FANTASTIC photos! I particularly love the black & whites you got out of that taped up plastic camera. Did you develop them yourself or have a lab do it? I would love to try something like that sometime. Your color shots look like postcards, better than postcards.
|
Thanks for the comments folks.

I've had many people email about the plastic camera I used for some black and white shots.

It's a toy camera called a Holga. Everyone produces different results because they have light leaks in different places...some have no light leaks. I got mine locally, but here's a link to get one if you're interested.

http://home.twcny.rr.com/baddog/holga/
|
Just to note...I have no affiliation with the folks at the Holga link. I simply found them by running a search.

Jim Tardio

Very much enjoyed the panoramics. What kind of camera did you use for that??
|
I'm glad this was brought back to the top.

Wonderful photos, Jim; you've got a great eye. Like others, I really liked the black & white and panormamic shots. And I also loved the shots in Venice and that gorgeous shot of the buildings in Siena glowing at sunset.
|
Thanks Capo and Super. I used a Hasselblad Xpan camera for the panoramics. This camera basically exposes the equivelant of two frames at a time...in one frame.

If you have more equipment questions, please email me because I don't get to this forum more than a couple times a week.

Thanks again.
|
Great stuff. Do you by chance have any shots from the Cinque Terre region? We're going for the holidays.

Tess

I just retuned from Italy and haven't developed my film yet. I don't think I will anymore, I'll just use your photos to show my family! You did a beautiful job.
|
Loved your shots of Siena and San Gimignano. Is that far from Siena?
