New "No Frills" Hotel to open in London
 

Just read an article about Tune hotels (owned by Air Asia) opening in Westminster. I have stayed in one of their places in Kuala Lumpur. Very cheap and cheerful but good value for anyone just looking for a bed for the night. Apparently they open in August and are launching at midnight with a 1p per night first come first served deal.

Naughty, naughty. That isn't Westminster, it's on the other side of the river. I'd call it Waterloo. Nothing wrong with the location (provided there's good sound insulation against traffic noise), and it's on good transport links; but the proprietors are employing a bit of estate agents' licence over neighbourhood boundaries.

I actually think Waterloo is a better location than Westminster for good affordable eats and some nightlife, especially around The Cut. And the transport links really are good.

The concept seems to be very small rooms, sometimes without windows, but good beds and a power shower. Although they hope to open in August, it is not possible to make a booking for November. Prices "could" be as low as £35.

It is not easy to open low cost hotels in London, because property prices are so high. This hotel is a conversion of an office block, something that other low-cost players like Travelodge and Holiday Inn Express have also done.

PatrickLondon, I was also wondering why thy called it Westminster. When we stayed at County Hall one time we regulary walked through to Lower Marsh street to do our laundry. Actually thinking about it now it seemed like a scene out of East Enders with the market stalls selling clothing and whatnot.

Because it is on westminster bridge road.
