New Crowne Plaza Prague Castle

I'm looking at staying at this location using Holiday Inn points while in Prague in July. It's a new hotel so there are no reviews that I can find.

Does anybody have information about the hotel or would this location be a good place to stay?

Too far out for my taste. Not very convenient to the most important (or even the least important) sights--even the castle isn't right at the doorstep, in spite of the hotel's name.

I think I walked on the Strahovska street and passed in front of this hotel. It is located sort of behind Strahovska monastery. Interesting location, even convenient if you like to walk in the woods of Petrin hill, walk to the mini Eiffel tower, etc, the view is magnificent around there but that's kind of away from many things, espeically the old town. But the tram stop is not far for No22, and 23 that can take you the city center, bay the river in 10 minutes. However, like Jake, to be honest, I would not choose this hotel for myself. But I don't have Holiday-Inn points either.

The site says the castle is 0.5km (0.31 miles) but it's closer to 1km. Loretta will be the closest site to visit, of about 0.5 km.

Tend to agree with the others that it's not that close to town center. I'd prefer to be closer and not have to hike that hill, BUT 1) the views should be wonderful, 2) although it's a steep walk down to town, if it's close to tram might not be bad coming back, and 3) I also don't have points which may make a difference.

We just returned from Prague, and visited the Strahov monastery. It's in a remote area. Not my cuppa tea.

Hi Woody,

Welcome home! I hope you had a wonderful time in Prague. It was great meeting you and your wife.

I'm looking forward to your thoughts on Prague.

We had a great time in the Basque area after leaving you. I'll report on it later. We think it's one of the most beautiful areas in France!
