Never on a Sunday? Supermarkets in Italy

I'm trying to avoid the horrible Saturday-night dash to the grocery store after finding our -- pretty remote, I think -- house in Tuscany.

Are there any supermarkets open on Sundays from Siena to Florence?

I took a look at the COOP website, and an ipercoop at Lastra a Singa has no Sunday hours listed under "orari di vendita" but there are Sunday hours for something called "Variazioni." I tried finding a translation online without luck.

Any advice?

OK, after looking at a few more examples, I'm guessing these hours are for special days when the store IS open on Sundays.

I wonder if they have hours like these in the autumn, too?

I'm currently staying outside Montaione, which is between Florence and Siena, and the Pam grocery store was most definitely open until 8pm on Sunday. It's a chain, so you might check for others in your area.

Thanks, Ms.

I hadn't heard of the "Pam" chain, and your advice will make all the difference to a more relaxed arrival....

My experience last summer in Tuscany was that it was hard to find an open market Sunday. The 2 I frequented closed at 1:30pm on Saturday and both were closed on Sunday.

I am sure I could have sought one out that was open, but I didn't want to spend a lot of time on Sunday when a little pre-planning/Saturday am shopping did just fine.
