http://www.medievalcottage.com/sbcastle.html. This site says the Sleeping Beauty castle at Disneyland was inspired by Neuschwanstein and the Sleeping Beauty castle in the film was inspired by the Chateau d'Usse in the Loire Valley. So a little confusing!

Yeah, I'm from southern California and it's common knowledge that the castle at Disneyland in Anaheim was inspired by Neuschwanstein. I had no idea about the Sleeping Beauty connection and was wondering why that kept being brought up. For the record, both castles influenced Disney in some way!

I've been to Neuschwanstein a couple of times. (Also, Linderhof and Herrenchiemsee) I think Neuschwanstein is worth it. The setting is beautiful and fussen is a nice little town. Hike up to the castle. The views from there are very nice, but skip the over the top interiors. Hohenschwangau, right next door, is also worth it!!

The Disneyland and Disney World castle is modelled after Neuschwanstein, but it isn't called "Sleeping Beauty's castle" but "Cinderella's Castle". That is where the confusion above stems from.
