Netherlands: What to see, Weather in Sept./Oct.?

Thinking of going to the Netherlands in September or October. What can we expect the weather be like? Any recommendations on what not to miss?

Netherlands temps will be comparable to a New England fall (cool, some rain or overcast). It's ideal tromping around weather - and for some reason, overcast skies seem to produce the best photographs. Lots to see in Amsterdam, but Maastricht is very pretty (visit the marl caves); Kroller-Muller Museum in Oterloo (game park with an art museum in it); the miniature town, Madurodam.

What not to miss in Amsterdam:
The Rijksmuseum and especially the Van Gogh museum.
Canal cruise, day and night.
The Holland Experience ½ hour show for a laugh.

Just walk around and enjoy the canals, bridges, neighbourhoods and shopping. Vondelpark too.

Yes Madurodam is neat and easy to get to by public transport. Delft is a nice little town... although I think anywhere and everywhere in the Netherlands would be interesting. You can get an all-day rail pass for quite cheap and go wherever your heart takes you. (We went to Nijmegen - a taxi driver said "why?".) I wished we had time to explore every place the train stopped. Next time I'll make a point of visiting the Nationaal Park de Hoge Veluwe and Paleis Het Loo.

There are previous postings on this site about areas north of Amsterdam that sound very much worth visiting also.
Hello Karin, when you are in Holland you don't wanna miss visiting Maastricht. It's in the south close to the German and Belgian border and it's Holland oldest city.
You can visit the (marl) caves, take a boattour to Liege(Belgium),dine like nowhere else in Holland. 26,27,28 and 29 august is the "Preuvenemint" in Maastricht; restaurants in the open air where you can try their food. It's famous in Europe.http://www.preuvenemint.nl
Why go to Amsterdam? It's like any other major city.
Go to Maastricht, you'll love it,i'me sure!!!!!!
