Netherlands, Germany, France, Switz. itinerary??
I will be in Amsterdam with my husband and son(16) in the middle of March for a conference. We will have nine more days to do our own thing and will be flying home from Zurich. We will be renting a car in Amsterdam with a drop off in Zurich. My "problem" is which way to go. We enjoy the smaller towns and back roads and love historical sites. The more research I do, the more indecisive I become. Should we go through France, Germany or spend more time in Switzerland? Would love to see the Alps, but will the weather permit this time of year? We don't mind driving to different places, but want time to wander and enjoy.
Your help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you! Mazz |

We had a great trip last fall travelling through Germany. You could stop in Cologne, somewhere along the Mosel, travel along the Rhine, and then down the Romantic Road, and into Austria and the Alps.
Lots of small and historic towns along this route! |
You can also travel through Belgium, (Ardennes) and Luxembourg.
In general less traffic, also beautiful surroundings. The weahter can be chilly,so dress in layers. |
Thanks for your suggestions. I think we will go through Germany. Still have plenty of research to do, but wanted to narrow down my choices. Any idea what weather will be like in the middle of March?
