Quantify "cheap" as relates to your budget, please...

My daughter and I stayed in Hotel Kap last September. Was upgraded to a quad when the clerk noticed how jet-lagged I was. Good breakfast. Good rate, IMHO. Real close to public transportation. But she and I chose to walk to most places and had no problems whatsoever.
Have a great time. Oh, BTW, we took a train trip to Brussels one day and totally enjoyed the trip. |
I also stayed at Hotel Kap, traveling solo female to Amsterdam for 5 days. It's an nice enough hotel with excellent breakfast included.
For sightseeing I used the "Let's Go Amsterdam" guidebook. I did not feel a problem with safety in most places, but do keep your eyes open and your wits about you. Several time when I was walking in outlying neighborhoods, I noticed a sudden change of 'atmosphere' when I turned a corner or crossed a bridge. |
We stayed at Hotel Acro, very close to the Rikjsmuseum. It was decent for the price, and included breakfast. Also close to Leidsplein - lots of restaurants and nightlife.
