Nero's Golden House -- Tel# out of order

Anyone have a working # for reservations at this museum? I've tried the one on this site as well as the one listed on frommers and Rick Steves (two different #'s) and nothing's working. This is my last reservation to make!! Yikes!

Thanks in advance...

We went in June and we just called the morning we were planning to go. We showed up early and bought tickets for the late afternoon (4 or 5pm I believe). Then we did other things for the rest of the day and came back at our appointed time. Definitely a must see, we loved it!

The OCtober that I went I just asked my hotel to make it for me, a day or two in advance.

rp - I bought my ticket in January '03 through the site listed below and paid for it online.

When I got there for my tour I was the only one! It was not an English tour though, don't remember why I didn't take the English tour but you get a tape and cassette player.
Enjoy,

Hi
I'd like to suggest that the audio tour may be a better idea. I took a guided tour and our guide spoke incomprehensible English.

WE just showed up in May. Your hotel can most likely get you a reservation when you arrive.

Is this a real good "must see". I thought I read where its hard to visualize what it looked like in ancient times. Or have I mixed up this one with some place else? Not trying to rain on your parade - just curious.

Personally, I thought it was okay, but couldn't call it a must-see if time is limited.

It's underground because the land around it has been built up. There is nothing in the rooms except for some fragments here and there and one or two urns. The walls are almost bare as very little of the original wall painting survives. I'm not at all sorry I went, but one has to work very hard at imagining it as the palace it once was. In season, the surrounding park is quite nice.

It's close to Colosseum area and makes for a nice stop when there.
I think the previous definition of "okay" fits it well. I'm glad I went, but if I was on a tight schedule, I'd skip it.
