needing some advice...
Ok, so I need some help here...
I have been running through the thought of Italy in my mind for awhile now... I originally decided that I would head that way during my Spring Break (March 13-20) and visit Rome and possibly one other place (any suggestions here?). However, I was at lunch with a friend yesterday who made the comment about knowing someone who would be heading to Italy during Christmas to visit her brother and was wanting someone to travel with. So now I have the option of: a) going to Italy during Christmas with a friend (and spending a great deal more money) or b) going to Italy during early spring and travel alone (saving some money). My question... would it be better to wait and go by myself for better weather or is it worth spending more to go during Christmas time? Thanks for any input. I'm kind of at a loss here as to what to do and what to expect. I went to London/Paris this year during Spring Break and it was unbelievably great weather and I just loved every second of it! |
much better weather and cheaper? plus, you don't even know the person and if you would even get along? wait till March.
(incidentally, I went to London for Spring Break one year and it was the coldest place I had ever been) |
I would go in the spring.

Is the person you're thinking of going with a friend or an acquaintance of a friend of yours. From your first description it sounded like you didn't know the person going to Italy. And, if she is going to visit her brother how much time will she spend with you. And, what if her travel style is completely different from yours and she turns out to be a clinging or annoying person.
I would choose option B. |
Go in spring.

kristan,
Go in March. Plus, if you only have a week, stay in Roma the whole time, maybe an optional day trip somewhere if you feel you really want one once you are there. Lots of possibilities in old posts here. Do a search for Rome day trips.... I don't know your budget, but I was very happy at Hotel Giardino Rome**, single room on my last trip. Excellent location, lovely helpful owner, Katy. Books up early (as most places do) because they are small. Have fun planning. You will love Rome! |
Unless you know this person really well, know their travel style, enjoy their company and have similar interests, and would actually like to spend some time with them, wait and go in Spring. I do not travel with anyone for convenience, only if I like them a lot and enjoy their company for long periods of time.
