Hello MNPAGES, may I suggest that you post what type of accomodations you are desiring and what you want to spend per night for a hotel in Bologna. That will help Fodorites give you recommendations that will fit in with your budget and what you desire.

I have never stayed overnight in Bologna as there was never an available hotel room due to Trade Shows. But Bologna is wonder IMO. I don't know when you will be there but I would reserve ASAP so you don't end up with the bad luck that I have always encountered.

I recently stayed at the Internazionale, a 4 star on V. Independenza about a 6 minute walk from the train station, 10 minutes to P. Maggiore. I was very pleased with the room, the hotel, breakfast, location, everything about it. Their rates might be quite high if it's during a trade fair, but I got a really good rate for mid-week no trade fair. You can access it through the Venere site.

We can also recommend the Hotel Internazionale in Bologna. We spent three nights there just about a year ago, and really enjoyed the hotel, its location, breakfast, and staff.

We stayed at Hotel Cardano at Malpenssa the night before our flight home last April, and really liked it.

They have great shuttle service to and from the airport, as well as to and from a restaurant.

Have you checked out www.tripadvisor.com? If not, I would suggest that you do.

I cannot recommend a hotel in Bologna, but I can tell you that we (couple) have reservations this May (2007) at the Hotel Porta San Mamolo, Vicolo del Falcone, 6/8. The location is good and the reviews are wonderful.

As far as Malpensa Aeroporto, we did stay for one night at the Villa Malpensa. Although it was a little pricey (breakfast was included and it was plentiful), the shuttle to the airport was about 5 minutes +/-. This is a lovely hotel, however, a bit stuffy for my taste. Also, there is a terrific small restaurant around the corner: Il Maniero Ristorante.

Thank you for your Bologna Hotel suggestion. I will check it out.

I stayed at Hotel Metropolitan for 3 nights this past January, newly renovated room-nice and clean, good breakfast, located on a quiet side street few doors off V.Independenza, in between the train station and Piazza M.

Perhaps you might like to check www.expedia.com, I have found several good deals from the site.

We stayed at Albergo Drappiere on pedestrian street called via Drappiere. Nice hotel, excellent location. Well priced. Close to the Piazza and Neptune fountain as well as great restaurants and shopping.

Also, type in "bologna hotels" in the search field at the top of this page to see other suggestions.

We loved Hotel Roma, just a few steps from Piazza Maggiore on a quiet side street, when we visited last June. The rooms were spacious, service great and it was about in your price range.

Thank you judy,guanciale, sandi for
all of your suggestions!!
The only problem that I have with Expedia is that they charge the full amount of the reservations right away
and our trip is 6 months from now. Sometimes I prefer placing the reservations directly with the Hotel,
especially when it is far in advance.
