Need your help to plan - London-Oxford-Bath-Windsor-London trip

Hi
Could you please help me to plan - London-Oxford-Bath-Windsor-London trip by public transportation with sleepover somewhere?
I really would appretiate it. This is our first trip to Europe, and we are travelling on a tight budget.
Thank you

sleepover (singular?) -- does that mean you want to do all that in 2 days/1 night?

This is a very easy trip by train - but Oxford and Bath each take most of a full day to explore and Windsor is about 1/2 a day -- so you'd need to stay over in 2 different places.

Basically you'd have train (or an express bus) from central London to Oxford/spend the night. Next morning train to Bath. stay the night. Next day train to Windsor, see the castleand town, train to London in the afternoon.

(Or you could do it in the reverse order)

Oh - we were posting at the same time. Adding the Cotswolds is still doable by public transport - but it will also add another full day.

You take the train from Oxford to Moreton in Marsh or somewhere like that. Then stay there or take a local bus to another village/town to spend the night. Then on to Bath. You could explore a bit of the Cotswolds w/o staying over night - going on to Bath. But you wouldn't get there until evening so you'd have the next day for exploring Bath and wouldn't really have time for Windsor that day.

So you are looking at a 2.5 to 3.5 day trip depending on whether you include the Cotswolds or not.

So Oxford to Moreton in March, is there any other station in Costwolds?

Another idea is for you to stay put in London for the entire time (your other post said 12 days?) Sometimes you get a discount for staying longer. Then you can go to lots of places as day trips--Oxford one day, Bath one day (it would be a long one), Windsor for day or half a day. You can even go to York (another long day). Anyway, it's an option. You could spend the whole time in London, but I DO understand the desire to see a bit more. And public transport is doable. But if you base in London and do several day trips, you don't have to mess with lugggage and can still see several places. (also for example Stonehenge, Salisbury, Dover, Canterbury, Cambridge--lots and lots of places can be gotten to and gotten back from). Not saying you shouldn't travel from point to point--just an idea.

We did a trip where we stayed in London 2 weeks and took 5 day trips (bus to Oxford, trains to 4 other places--got a FlexPass so we had total flexibility, days and times, for train travel--loved it). Another trip we were in London a few days and then rented a car for 9 days. If you click on my name, on my Profile page you will see trip reports at the bottom and can see what we did if you are interested.

There are other stations in/near the Cotswolds -- but not many and Moreton-in-Marsh is probably the best for this purpose.

But from texasbookworm's post it sounds like you are in London an extended period.

There is no need (at all) to include Windsor w/ the other places. It is a VERY easy 1/2 day trip from central London. Take the train to Windsor in the morning and return to London mid to late afternoon.

Oxford and the Cotswolds is an easier "two-fer" w/o Bath. Just go to Oxford see the town, next morning take a bus, or train and bus, to any of a number of Cotswold towns for the day -- take a long walk to see a few villages and in the evening take the train back to London.

If you have a flat in London it would probably make sense to "eat" one night - do the Oxford/Cotswold two step and return to your flat the next evening.

Bath can be done as a long but easy day trip from London by train.

Thank you texasbookworm & janij!
So what is the station from Oxford to Costwolds, and how do you navigate trough Costwolds villages, is there a good transportation?

You'll be able to get more information from the internet if you spell "Cotswolds" correctly
