Need Vienna Hotel Recommendations

I'm helping my mom & aunt plan a trip to europe and I'm looking for hotel recommendations for Vienna. They are in their late 60's early 70's and healthy / mobile. They would like to stay in / near the tourist attractions / city center. Probably 3 nights in Vienna - I have know idea what a reasonable rate is in Vienna but if they could get something nice for 80-120 Euros that would be fantastic.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

I forgot to add - they will be there the last week in August (2005)

We stayed at Pension Pertschy www.pertschy.com and loved it. Very central, quiet - but ask for a room that's not on the street - reasonably priced and a wonderful breakfast. Very helpful staff as well.

Check out Hotel Austria. I reserved the room via venere.com.

Get one that is air conditioned.
Vienna can get hot.
Tourist attractions in Vienna are like they are in other cities: strung out.
Be near one and you are far from another.

I stayed at the Carlton Opera and thought it ok. I was/am the same age as your Mom and aunt.

"Something nice for 80-120 euros" might be a bit of a stretch, depending on your definition of "nice." There are certainly plenty of acceptable accommodations, especially some of the pensiones, that you could find for the upper end of that range. But the nice hotels, as I would define that term, will be out of your identified range. I suggest one of the pensiones such as Pertschy or others such as Haydn, Altmann, or Shermin. Good luck.

Thanks all - I've been on the road (unfortunately on business). A pensione will be good for them - thanks again for the advice!

This might be in the same general quality range as Pension Pertschy - - http://www.residenz.cc - - fits your price rnge. I can vouch for it, though I don't remember about the A/C. We were there in May (2003), and I don't recall it being particularly hot.

Best wishes,

Rex
