Need train help from Rome

Hello, my family and I are going to ROME and need recs on which train apps to use. Also, which train stations are best to go to from Rome to Amalfi Coast, Florence, Milan, and Venice? Thank you!

Get yourself the Trenitalia and ITALO apps -- this way you have both providers and can shop around. From Rome, the central station Termini will take you to all destinations. All cities you mention except the Amalfi Coast are accessible by direct train connections from Rome. For Amalfi Coast just go to Salerno and depending on your Amalfi Coast itinerary you can take local trains, bus, taxi or boat from Salerno.

That's a lot of territory, may I ask how long is this trip? I hope you have at least 3 weeks.

Since you're talking about Rome to all these places, I hope you're not thinking of day trips to these places, returning to Rome in between. While Florence can be done as a day trip, the others are too far. How many nights do you have? You would do better to fly into Venice, then do Milan, Florence, Rome, and Amalfi and fly out of Naples. That's if you have enough nights for all that.

You can research your options using rome2rio.com.

It hadn't occurred to me that you might be looking at day trips from Rome to these other places. If that's true, you definitely need to make a new plan. If you will give us more information, we will help if we can.

I always use Trainline in Europe. The prices are the same as the individual country trains and I don't have to keep multiple apps on my phone.

The OP is a one and done -- probably not still interested.

In general you don't need the apps if you don't want them. Just show the conductor the email.

BUT the apps show realtime train locations. They are useful if delays happen. The OP was asking about Italy it's only two apps at most. TrenItalia and Italo.
