need to get from san marco to venice maestre train
 

Can anyone give me an idea of how long it will take me(and my suitcase) to get from Piazza San Marco to the Venice Maestre train station on a weekday morning in October? Do I take the public waterbus to St. Lucia station and then a train to Venice Maestre? Thanks for the help.

Yes boat to train station or Piazzale Roma - frequent trains from station or buses from Pzzle Roma to Mestre station

should take about 45 mins it seems with tranfers - trains run to meet trains at Mestre that do not come into SLC

Trains run about every 20min, trip is about 12 min. so 45 would be good time frame. Be sure you get and stamp your ticket before getting on in the machine near tracks.You can also get the time schedule at any place i.e tabacci shop that sells tickets.

I would allow well over an hour to Mestre.

It's advisable to get rail tickets in advance to save you queuing at SL.
