Need the Best Hotel Location in Rome
 

We will be spending 2 nights in Rome after a cruise and would like the best location for a hotel. We're leaning towards being 1/2 way between Trevi Fountain and Via Veneto. Is this a good walkable location? Can anyone recommend a moderate (4 starish) hotel? Thanks.

Hotel Pantheon or Minerve Grand Hotel - such a grand location both - both near the Pantheon my favorite building there. Pedestrian zone too - good people watching and evening strolling noise - but thats Rome. If you want quiet go for the Lord Byron or Hotel de Russie

I guess it depends on what you want to walk to. I would say the &quot;other&quot; side of Trevi - - halfway towards Piazza Navona.<BR><BR>In other words, near the Pantheon, as in del Senato or Cesari.<BR><BR>But of course, there is no one right answer.<BR><BR>Best wishes,<BR><BR>Rex<BR>[email protected]<BR>

I like to stay near the bottom of the Spanish Steps. Someone else recommended the Hotel de Russie, which is near the Piazza del Popolo. I have stayed there, and found it to be fabulous. We booked a suite for an overnight, also at the end of a cruise. The staff really treated us great. We also really enjoy the activity in the Piazza del Popolo. The Hotel also has a great courtyard setting for evening cocktails.<BR><BR>Another one that I like, and I will probably spell it wrong is the Hotel d'Ingleterra (I know that's not right, but I can't recall the spelling, maybe someone can help out?) This hotel is just off the Via Condotti and has a great little bar.

My favorite location is the bottom of the Spanish Steps area. I hesitate to recommend the hotel we used because it has some good rooms and some very poor rooms, and I'm not sure you would be happy with some of the rooms we saw. The name of the hotel was The Carriage House. However, we loved the location.

I stayed in Rome in Feb 2002, and if I had money and little time, I'd stay on the Via Margutta, tucked away behind the Piazza di Spagna. The Hotel Manfredi is an elegant 3-star. Great restaurants and shopping within easy walking distance. You can book it on www.venere.com - easy to search and book.

I definitely also recommend that you stay near the Spanish steps (either at the top or bottom). It's the center of activity and nothing in Rome is too far to get to.

Agree also with the Spanish Steps or Pza. Navona locations.

The Colonna Palace Hotel is a good 4 star traditional hotel. It is only 5 minute walk from Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi fountain - it is situated in a quiet square (patrolled in all corners by police as it faces Parliament Buildings) Rooftop for breakfast - wonderful. Spent 2 weeks there - we had a suite.

I like the Pantheon-Piazza Navona area.<BR>Some of my family just returned after staying at the Minerva and they thought it was grand. Not sure if that is a 4 star or 5 star. (It was quite pricey.)<BR>Across the street is where I've stayed, the Santa Chiara. Not as grand, but <BR>quite nice, much smaller, all services, much less expensive than the Minerva.
