Go to HGTV.com. Do a search in the All in Good taste show. The URL is www.hgtv.com/recipes/agt-103.html. I haven't made them but the recipe looks fairly easy. If you make it, let me know how they turned out.

Some easy quick tapas are any kinds of olives, thin slices of good-quality ham, grilled mushrooms or shrimpwith garlic, slices of manchego cheese and/or sausage. Some that require more time and preparation, but are still relatively easy, are "Tortilla Espanola" - which is an omelet with with pieces of sauteed potato and onion mixed in, or "Ensalada Rusa" - basically a potato salad with peas, diced carrots, green olives, and diced red pepper added, garnished with slices of hard-boiled egg.
Buen provecho!

Donna - I tryed the tapas receipes to very good friends of ours who were visting us from Kodak International (Madrid division). We were there to visit in May and I also wanted to impress them when they came to visit. The web site the Yvonne was a God send to me. I did try them over the weeksend and they were very impressed. I had to do some searching and I found that ww.hgtv.com/recipes/recipe103.html worked better. Thanks Yvonne and thanks to you Donna. Your post was perfect timing. Any more suggestions???

ttt. Looking for tapas recipes that are relatively quick to make, are either served cold or can be reheated, and are preferably vegetarian. Cheese is OK. I will need to prepare it the night before to take it to a party after work the following day. Thanks.

Try epicurious.com and search for tapas. There are 10 recipes, some cold, some vegetarian. All sound good.

If you really want to do it right, get a copy of Tapas by Penelope Casas. Wondrous recipes like Shrimp in Green Mayonnaise, Anise-Flavored Beet Salad, Cumin-Flavored Mushroom Salad, Mussels and Shrimp in Avocado Vinaigrette, Olive Paste and Blue Cheese Canape.

Where's the party?

Find the cookbook "Tapas" by Penelope Casas..it's filled with suggestions. Also go to www.thespanishtable.com for suggestions, recipes and supplies. We had a wine tasting of priorats(which I highly recommend) and I used the Spanish Tablefor recipes/ideas and the book. I was also able to buy "tapas" napkins. If you live in either Seattle or the SF Bay area you can go directly to the store.

Hi all. Saute eggplant with onions and bell peppers and lots of garlic in good olive oil, add bits of tomatoes (rotel from a can if you like heat), olives and capers, and a drop of white wine or wine vinegar. Make the day before for sure, and serve cold or at room temperature. J.

We had an easy to make tapa in Seville. Thinly slice queso fresco and drizzle honey on it. Sprinkle with a few chopped nuts and serve with bread slices.

Julies, can you educate re queso fresco? Fresh cheese? A soft white? Sounds unusual w/honey and nuts -- a compliment to salty stuff. Thanks, J. That cookbook TAPAS sounds great, as does the bring-a-dish tapas/sherry party. How can I be hungry so early in the morning?

I agree that the Penelope Casas book is wonderful. Some ingredients are hard to find, but when you do find them, everything is fairly easy to make.

Queso fresco is, as the name implies, a fresh soft cheese, with a texture but not a taste, like a cross between a feta and a brie. We live in Minneapolis and I've been able to find it in cheese shops here.

I loved this easy shrimp recipe I made for a tapas party. Used red pepper flakes rather than red pepper, and cooked all at Lo-Med heat rather than hot, as I think high heat tends to toughen up shrimp. Easy to make and can be served at room temp.
