Need suggestions for a good place to stay in Rome?

Would like to stay somewhere in downtown area. Hotel or apartment for 2 to 3 days. Price will be in the consideration.

Thanks.

Most apartments don't rent for less than three days. You need to state your budget before anyone can make suggestions.

We have stayed at the Best Pantheon B&B and liked it. Mixed reviews on Trip Advisor, and some complain about street noise.

It depends on what do you mean saying "good place"... Must it be close to sights?

There are lots of ** and *** hotels near Termini Station, close to public transportation, that are not expensive. They are filled with European tourists, including Italians from other parts of Italy, but they seem to be scorned by Americans who post on forums. There are lots of expensive luxury hotels in affluent areas up toward the Borghese Gardens. Neither are exactly in the mainstream of tourist sites.

Hotels in the area between the Campo di Fiori and the Piazza Navona/Pantheon are ideal for touring but are sometimes on noisy streets.

So what matters most? Peace and quiet? Price? Convenience? Luxury? An apartment could meet all these but you aren't staying long enough. Just don't stay too far out of the center. You will eat up in travel time and expense what you save on rent.

If you are looking for an apartment in Rome then look at a company that we have used before called Nextaway. Even though you have not stated your budget I think they have apartments from budget to chic and they are all over Rome. So you can choose Spanish steps area or trevi fountain or close to most major attractions. Personall we stayed close to the spanish steps and it was great as it was easy to get around as we walked and got the metro. we also got a ticket for the hop on hop off bus as it leaves and picks you up from every major attraction.
