Need suggestions
We just found out that my husband will be giving a 3 day lecture in Birmingham. We want to travel a few days before the lecture and continue our travel a few extra days afterwards. Since this is happening in less than a month, I need some quick suggestions of places to visit in Britain. We have been to London in the past and don't want to go there again at this time. Help.

My first suggestion is that you re-post your query and put the subject after "Need suggestions" so that people know what you eed information about.

Relatively close to Birmingham are Stratford, Warwick and Oxford. Chester is a bit further afield. Or York for a few days, perhaps? |
I'd start in Bath and spend three days going up to Birmingham, then take a few days going up into Yorkshire afterwards.

Where are you flying into?
Assuming LHR, I'd rent a car, head to Windsor and then Bath for the first night. Then up into the Cotswolds for 2 days/nights. If you are flying into LGW instead, I might stay the first two days in Kent East Susses, then head to the Cotswolds and then into B'ham Then while your husband is busy w/ his lectures you can visit Kenilworth, Warwick, Stratford upon Avon, Bournville, etc. on your own. After B'ham I'd head up to Yorkshire for 2 or 3 days. Or another option - after B'ham is fly or take the train up to Edinburgh for the rest of your time. If you are flying into Birmingham, I'd still do the Cotswolds. But if you are flying into Manchester, then I'd do Yorkshire before B'ham and the Peak District maybe a bit of North Wales/Chester afterwards. |
Oh - and I agree w/ Underhill. "Need suggestions" could be asking anything about anywhere in all of Europe. I try to open most threads about the UK but only opened this one today because I was curious.
Don't know if it is worth re-posting now -- but I'd consider doing so. |
