Need some Italian train information and help
 

We need to get train tickets from Rome to Brindisi, catching a flight out of Brindisi.
When I look at the Italian train sites, they list 3 or 4 rome stations, going to 3 different Brindisi stations. Anyone have any idea which Rome station I need to go to Brindisi, and if there is a local train to the airport in Brindisi? As much as I love ITaly, dealing with any websties, or Alitallia is always a nightmare. I changed date of our flights (3) from LA to Rome..Feb 26th. I have gotten ONE confirmation, which penalty has shown up on the credit card. They keep telling me the "back office" (which is apparently in Albania) "will send it in three days or more". Well, more is now about 2 months. Constant calls confirm the change, but no credit card activity for trhe penalties for changing...NOW I am totallly confused on the train site! Any help would be appreciated. ANd if anyone has any idea how I can get my email confirmation of the change...that would also be of great help.

Apply exactly the same logic as with flights.

If you don't know which airport, you'd select (say) 'London (any)'

OK, so on www.trenitalia.com select 'Rome (tutti le stazione)'

But it'll go from Stazione Termini, the big main one.

We flew out of Brindisi last June and I dont believe there is a train. Its close to town so I would just take a taxi once you get there...or there is likely a bus but that would be more of a pain I think.

The flights from Rome to Brindisi are 8 times a day and very cheap, why are you taking the train?

Bilbo, will you please have a little respect for the OP? Just because the flights are frequent and cheap doesn't mean that everybody should take one. There are lots of reasons this person might be taking the train and all good ones, too, I suspect.

I had the same thought as Bilbo. It is a useful suggestion and would facilitate connections at the other end.

I paid $54 Brindisi to Rome FCO. But the key to getting low fares is to book on Italian Alitalia site, not the US site. The OP might find that daunting. I speak Italian so I manage easily - others might not.

Brindisi airport is a delight. About the size of some bus stations. Spanking new, hip design.

And no, there is no train to the airport. It is practically out in a farmer's field. The runway ends in a strip of beach.
