Need Some advice on Spain

I need some advice on visiting Madrid and the towns near it. Our last day in Madrid is a Monday. I know the museums are closed. Any suggestions of something open that we shouldn't miss? My other question is we are going to Segovia and Avila and Salamanca. Should we get a hotel room in both Segovia and Avila, or just one of those towns and use it as a base for both towns? Thanks in advance.

Stay in Segovia and visit Avila for half a day.

You could do a day trip to Toledo--very worthwhile.

Thanks for your help with the Segovia/Avila question. We are going to Toledo and spending the night before we head north to Segovia. Heres my problem with Mondays in Madrid. We'll go Musuem hopping the 1st day we are there. The 2nd day we leave to visit Toledo, 3rd day Segovia, 4th, Avila, then Sunday, Salamanca and back to Madrid. Does it make any sense to go to Salamanca from Toledo? Then spend the night in Segovia, but for Avila see it on Monday as a day trip from Madrid? See, my secret motive is I really would like to check out the flea Market in Madrid on Sundays.

hmmmn we did this trip last year. Avila is just an afternoon or so. Toledo longer. Salamanca one day.. Segovia one day. DO NOT MISS the gardens outside, cant remember the name. Its a Palace. Worth the entire Segovia trip. The trip from Salamanca to Segovia wasnt that short..ok well maybe the flat tire made it seem longer!! But no it seemed longer than a jaunt.
