Need Rome airport hotel at the airport

I think my first post on this was on the wrong country. Sorry if I am repeating myself.

In checking this site many have said that the Hilton is at the airport but in checking with Hilton I am advised it is 2 miles away. Plus the cost is 320 euros - pretty steep. We have a 6 am flight out which means we need to be at the airport 4:30 or 5 am.

I have told my husband we should just stay up and then go to the airport but he would prefer to stay somewhere.

Any suggestions?

The Hilton IS at the airport. (Have stayed there.) However, the walk thru the terminals can seem like two miles-:)

Hilton is not technially attached to the airport but has a covered walkway that is maybe 100 yards long that leads to the airport. We were able to get a room there last year for 185 Euro. I seem to recall that the price dropped as we got closer to our arrival date. It was originally quoted to us at around 280 Euro.

We stayed at the Hilton. The big advantage is that you can walk to the terminal under cover from the hotel. We only paid $200 US in August, but that was their non-refundable rate. I agree with your husband. You need a room even if it is only for half a night!

Or you can stay where you are in Rome and have a driver run you out. There are several services. We had a 5:30am flight out in September. Driver cost us 55e which we split 4 ways so it was cheap enough. The only problem was only one place to eat was open and it was the pits.........

JoanneH: thanks for the info. Do you recall what time you left Rome to get to the airport and the name of the service/driver?

I'm not JoanneH, but you might want to look at

www.airportshuttle.it

It's 26 Euro from Rome to Fiumicino and an additional 6 Euro for each person picked up at the same address.

There is a surcharge, though, for very early departures from Rome; it should be mentioned on the Web site.

I've used them a number of times, and they have been very reliable.

The Hilton is extremely convenient. We always stay there on our last night. The covered walk to the terminal is about 7 minutes. I can't believe Hilton told you it's 2 miles - there's no way.

Plus, they have a free shuttle to and from Rome's city center.

If you're not already a Hilton Honors member, sign up before you book. I got a rate of 240 euros online when I booked, but when we checked in and I gave her my HH number, she said the rate was only 200 euros.

I am not going to research this, but could there possibly be more than one Hilton in the Rome area?

Try the Holiday Inn Eur Parco dei Medici which is about 10 minutes from the airport and probably less than half the price of the Hilton. I have stayed in both. The Holiday Inn has a free shuttle to the airport, I just don't know if it runs that early. If not, you could always take a taxi.
