Need restaurants for parents in vienna and prague!
 

calling any vienna or prague experts!

My parents are going on a tour in August to vienna and prague. Most meals will be provided by the tour, but they have a few nights where they need to find restaurants. Alas, they are 70-ish and not really internet savvy and I have been recruited to help them. As they are not the most experienced oversees travelers, I am trying to find a restaurant for them in these two cities near their hotels. They enjoy good food, good atmosphere, comfortable places. High end or moderate places would be good. So would "tourist" places (if food is tasty)! I'm hoping to find places near their hotels to make it easier on them. This may be wishful thinking, but I can't think of a better place to try, so here goes...

Vienna --near Hotel Bristol

Prague --near Intercontinental

Would love it if I could get a few suggestions. really want them to have an enjoyable trip. If not, maybe someone has a better idea for how I can go about searching? any thoughts would be appreciated!

the intercontinental in prague is in "Josefov"

and the bristol in vienna is near the vienna state opera house.

currently I am staring at maps of these cities and trying to crossreference nearby street names to the fodors rest. guide. the prague guide only lists 1 restaurant in the Jewish Quarter.

Here's a list of restaurants I'm looking at for our upcoming trip. Most of them are in the right neighborhood for your parents but am not sure if they are the right atmosphere (fortunately several of them have websites that you can check).

A few recs near or at the Bristol:
Cafe Sirk--very good for lunch (they have an excellent homemade low salt chicken soup). Lunch of soup and salad, pastry dessert and beverages (glass of wine, sparkling water, coffee) about 20 euros.
Morwald's--near the Bristol, a restaurant in the Ambassador Hotel on the Karntnerstrasse (the restaurant isn't on the ground floor, they have to take the elevator up one floor). One of Vienna's top 10 restaurants. Excellent service. On the expensive side.
Meinl am Graben--another top restaurant, a little farther down, at the end of the Graben (but not a long walk). On top of the Meinl high end grocery store. My favorite restaurant in Vienna. Reserve a table with a view of the Graben. For lunch or dinner. On the expensive side. Very nice service.
Cafe Oberlaa--a short walk from the Bristol. Delicious pastries. For lunch or pastries (not open for dinner)
All of these places will have people in your parents' age bracket enjoying themselves and these spots also aren't very smokey.

In Vienna, Dad and I really enjoyed Gosser Bierklinik. It used to be a brewery, and they still make their own beer (I think!). The food was wonderful, and very inexpensive. Service was great. If I recall correctly, complete meals for both of us cost less than 25. They have a separate non-smoking room, which was important to us. In fact, we ate there both nights we were in Vienna (we couldn't find anything that wasn't smoky the second night, and decided to go back rather than keep looking around!). I'm not sure where it is in relation to the Bristol, but we walked from Pension Pertschy, and it was only a few blocks.
