Need recommendation for Florence centrally located hotel up to about 50 euro
The message title says it all. If anyone has a recommendation please post. It will be for 9 days coming up next week. Should a discount be expected for a stay this long? Many thanks in advance. |
Do you mean a discount off the 50 euro?

anxious to see the replies.
could religious hospedales be a possibility? i do not know of any websites but perhaps someone will. |
Convents and monasteries are usually booked months in advance.
You can always try CASA SANTO NOME DI GESÙ Piazza del Carmine 21 50124 Florence Tel. 055.213.856 Fax: 055.281.835 e-mail: [email protected] Singles with bath are 60 Euro; somewhat less without bath. |
NEXT week? A €50 hotel is a tough thing to find - but at the last minute I'd think it is nearly impossible.

We stayed at the Hotel Enza, a nice little hotel on a quiet street. We paid $60 Euros and had a nice double, including a decent breakfast.
Here's the link to the review on trip advisor: Hotel Enza Via San Zanobi, 45 Florence 50129 Italy http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...e_Tuscany.html |
Nine days might be a problem as I think you will only be able to find scattered days available. You could try Ira's favorite B&B.

If "50 euros" is per person, for a double, or triple - - then the question changes significantly...
If you mean for a single, then I think you better try hooking up with someone! Best wishes, Rex |
Thanks all for your comments and suggestions. It looks like this is the wrong town or time for a 50 euro bed. BTW, it's for a single. Plumbing not important. Patrick, I thought that it wouldn't hurt to ask. I always ask when I'm over there. |
Since you aren't fussy about plumbing, I assume you have checked about youth hostels in Florence. There must be one or two...

<<It looks like this is the wrong town or time for a 50 euro bed.>>
Neither wrong town, nor wrong time. You said centrally located. Not fussy about plumbing will only get you so far in finding inexpensive options in Florence. Not fussy about location will work wonders. The website www.venere.com lists these 1-star places at 40-50 euro for a single, per night, with availability July 7-16: 1. Masaccio Campo di Marte € 40 2. ABC Santa Maria Novella € 40 3. Genesio San Lorenzo € 42 4. Fiorentina Santa Maria Novella € 42 5. Enza San Lorenzo € 45 6. Giappone Duomo € 45 7. Pensione Bretagna Palazzo Strozzi € 45 8. Soggiorno Firenze Porta al Prato € 45 9. Ferretti Santa Maria Novella € 45 10. Ausonia e Rimini San Lorenzo € 48 ======================= Not everyone of these is a bad location, but I don't know a thing about any of them. At least the first one does provide a bathroom in the room. I didn't go down the list checking the others. |
..a real toughie at high season= try ratestogo. a good last minute site.

I gave "laterooms.com" a peek...
its pretty spartan but its the price and its central: Locanda Gallo. the site on Laterooms says: Locanda Gallo Description Locanda Gallo offers rooms and small nice apartments on the third floor of an ancient building situated in the historical centre of Florence close to the central Train Station Santa Maria Novella and near the most important monuments and the most prestigious shops. The Locanda Gallo is on ancient private building. All the rooms have private bathroom. No curfew We have tree private small apartments with kitchen rentable per week. All our rooms and apartments have air conditioned and TV There is no 24 h reception, just check in at arrival, so your staying in Florence will be like being in your home. |
I don't know if it has to be a formal hotel or not. Try Istituto Gould in the Oltrarno (if that's centrally located enough). Try Ninnananna B&B in the San Lorenzo area. Try Orbitz, RatestoGo, and LateRooms. You might also want to split up the stay.
