Need private guide for Naples, Pompeii and Almalfi coast

We are a group of 10 who will be arriving by Cruise Ship to Naples on September 2. We are looking to hire a private guide to visit Naples, Pompeii and the Almalfi coast. The only other posts I found dated back to 2006. Any previous good experiences would be most welcome. Thank You

Hi K,

That's a good sized group.

Check out Limousine Service Sorrento (Renato Cuomo) www.cuomonet.it and

How long do you have? Naples and Pompeii and the AC are a lot, actually too much, for one day.

I was thinking that it was way too much also but some in our group thought it doable. If we can find a guide we can see what they suggest. We might have eliminate the Amalafi Coast. I need help fast. Any suggestions are welcome.

We've not used such services, so haven't one to recommend - but if getting desperate you might try having a trawl through the entries under the "Tours" tab here....

But don't hold me responsible!

ContextRome has been doing that type of tour for years.

They would have an office employee meet the small group (6) at Rome's Train Station and put the group on the correct train and car.

At the Naples Train Station the group would be met by their Naples' area guide, escorted to the small private bus and taken to Pompeii for an escorted tour, back to Naples for an historical walk thru the 'old city', followed by pizza in one of the famous (Bill Clinton & Chelsea ate there) but 'average Joe' pizza restaurant and then a visit to the Naples Archaeological Museum (a *must* see) where all the ancient artifacts from Pompeii and surrounding area are kept.

Now Context has an office in Naples www.contexttravel.com/city/Naples
I have no doubt that even on short notice they could get a guide and bus rental with no problem.
And seeing it's a private tour the group can decide what they want to see but IMO definitely pass on the Almalfi Coast.

Besides time/distance from Naples and being a truckdriver accidents that close roads, long traffic delays, etc always happen when you can least afford it, meaning missing the boat in your case could be a long-shot but still a possiblity:(.

I would keep it 'close to home' (ship's pier) and venture only as far as Pompeii in the 1st half+ and Naples for the 2nd half.

Worst case scenario; Even if stuck (road closure) on the Autostrada (to-or-from Pompeii) you could always do a short walk off the highway and find taxis.
Same in Naples, gridlock; just walk away and find taxis that will happily:) take you to the piers via the long-way-around:). Regards, Walter

We are actually going out of Naples. Your information is great, especially about the possibility of getting stranded. I hope that we will will be able to use one of these companys. Thanks to everyone.

"We are actually going out of Naples."
======================================
"At the Naples Train Station the group would be met by their Naples' area guide, escorted to the small private bus and taken to Pompeii..."

The guide and bus could meet a group anywhere (port, airport, hotel, train station).
The bus and driver are leased ~Naples using a "Naples' area guide".
I was just using their old tour from Rome to show how the Naples' area tour was formated and the years of experience they have.

"Now Context has an office in Naples www.contexttravel.com/city/Naples"

Which covers the area you are interested in.

they are really amazing! We did the same tour in May of this year with 10 people and it was truly the best tour we took! Our guide was fantastic! Make sure you get a guide for Pompeii!
