Need input on itinerary
We arrive in Rome on July 1st and depart from Naples on July 13th. In the past we've been to Florence & Venice but this time we're taking our 14 year old. We don't want to jump around too much but get a lot of bang for our buck. Rome - 5 days; Positano - 3 days - Capri - 1 night - Sorrento - 3 days. I was thinking that ending in Sorrento would allow us to go to Pompei and then explore north of Sorrento or go back to the Positano area. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Sounds like a good plan.

I finally made it to Pompeii on this last trip (May) and it exceeded my expectations. In July it will be hot and crowded and it is BIG. Plan on pacing yourselves and stopping for lunch (cafeteria is not bad) and lots of water. The audio-guides were excellent and allowed for flexibility.
I don't know what your 14 year old is interested in, but finding some videos or other info about Pompeii to look through beforehand helps to make the ruins come "alive." |
