Need input on Florence Hotels
I have read the past posts regarding moderate hotels (Euro 125 to 175) in Florence, but I am seeking RECENT experience with the following hotels. We're planning a trip in early September, and I'd appreciate your thoughts. We're familiar with European accomodations and are looking for a decent room in a central location with great restaurants within walking distance. Thanks so much!
--Hotel Alessandra (Euro 130 standard double or 160 for std double overlooking river) --Hotel Casci (Euro 130 std double) --Hotel Bellettini (Euro 160 std double or 160 superior double) --Loggiato dei Serviti (Euro 140 std double) --Torre Guelfa (Euro 180 std double) --Hotel Cavour (Euro 180 std double) |
Not on your list, but I just stayed last month at the Il Guelfo Bianco - and liked it - good location on Via Cavour, quick walk to the Duomo and center. We paid 170 euro for a single, 190 for a double (although they had lots of rooms and rates to choose from, many cheaper)

I suggest you check out the Martelli on Panzani street. I think It fits all your requirements and was visited by friends on our recommendation just 2 weeks ago.

If you can handle the stairs try SOGGIORNO BATTISTERO on the Duomo Square €98.00 for a double high season. http://www.soggiornobattistero.it/. |
Sunshine99 - We had 2 double rms at Hotel Casci for 3 nites this past May. We found Casci to have basic-looking rms, on the lg size, very clean, comfortable (but w/o frills). It's a family-run hotel, run very efficiently. They're helpful, speak perfect English, and the location is convenient to all. Overall, great value for the price.

Hi Sunshine,
I stayed at Il Guelfo Bianco last year and thought it was very nice. A few weeks ago I stayed at the Casci (same street, a bit closer to the Duomo) and was very happy with it; Lulu described it well. It also has free internet access with an American keyboard. If I go to Florence again I would choose the Casci. Enjoy your stay in Florence! |
Hi Sunshine,
I stayed at the Hotel Cavour 3 years ago (not sure if this meets your definition of recent). The hotel is in a great central location, the rooms are decent size and comfortable, and I recall the bathroom being spacious. One of the nicest things about the hotel is the rooftop terrace -- great view of the Duomo! Back then, the hotel was clean, but starting to look a bit worn (not yet shabby, however). Have a wonderful trip. Diane |
Hi!
My husband and I stayed at the Hotel Casci June 2002. The rooms are basic, but the location is excellent- just a few blocks from the duomo. The family is extremely friendly and courteous. We would definitely stay there again on a future trip. |
We stayed at the Hotel Cavour a year ago May - it was one of the nicest hotels we stayed in on our month long trip in Italy. I think they must have recently done some remodeling - I highly recommend it - location is great!
