Need ideas on how to best sepnd 8 days in Spain

Hi,

My husband and I are planning a trip to Spain in March. We will be flying into Madrid or Barcelona. We want to cover a mix of cities and smaller towns. Are there any beaches that would be worth going to in March?

Cities/Areas I am really interested in:
Madrid
Barcelona
Seville
Cordoba
Valencia
Malaga
Majorca
Salamanca

This is our first trip. Which of these can we skip? Based on geographic proximity which of these are best clubbed together given we have only 8 full days in Spain? We are thinking of taking trains or flying between cities. Is driving better? In terms of interests we like:
Local culture/food/cafes
History
Architecture
Scenic areas

Please help!

Thanks a ton,
Nik

Here are some random 8-day itineraries.

Madrid 4 days - train - Barcelona 4 days

Madrid 3 days - train - Cordoba 1 day - Sevilla 3 days - train Madrid 1 day

Madrid for a whole week! with day trip to Toledo, etc.

Barcelona for a whole week!

March is not beach weather, and while I adored Malaga, it doesn't really fit. nor does Valencia in my opinion.

You really just need to spend some time curled up with a good guide book, then come here for more specific information. Happy planning!

I would suggest Madrid and Andalucía (Sevilla, Córdoba, Granada, Málaga etc). In Andalucía you will have Phoenician, Rooman, Moslem and Christian history and architecture for a lifetime and a great variety of scenic areas to match.

The Andalusian capital Sevilla is fantastic. 2 1/2 hours from Madrid with the high speed AVE train. "It was called Hispalis under the Romans and Isbiliya with the Moors. Its high point in history was following the discovery of America": http://www.andalucia.com/cities/sevilla.htm

Sevilla has got one of the finest tapas scenes in all of Spain. Great café's and bars all over town. The world's finest flamenco artists perform here on a regular basis. Many of them live here.

8 days is not a lot. I would pick Madrid and one other city (maybe Sevilla since March is a good time to visit the south weatherwise).
