Need ideas for Rome/Venice after dark

Hi- Must confess that I borrowed Indygirl2's title as I've been thinking the same thing about Italy. I've done my reading etc, but I can't find to find anything. Would love to hear your ideas.

Rohani, what time of year are you going? We were in Rome and Venice in June and the weather was perfect for just wandering around in the evening. Great places to hang out in the evening:

Rome: Trevi fountain, Spanish steps, Piazza Navonna, the entire neighborhood surrounding the Pantheon, ristorantes on atmospheric piazzas (many surrounding the Pantheon areas)...

Venice: San Marco piazza has orchestras playing in the evening...dance for free but you can't sit for free though...Very charming. Ride a vaporetto in the evening (we had the 3-day vaporetto pass so had unlimited on and off privileges.) Wander about aimlessly in the Venice evening...Return to the Grand Canal if you feel thoroughly lost... A gondola ride is pretty and romantic just before sunset when there is still some light left...

Rohani, forgot to mention that in the summer, many people are still enjoying dinner as late as 11:00 pm! We loved dining until late at family-run ristorantes with tables outdoors on charming piazzas. Lots of evening couples strolling until 11:00 pm.

I'm busting at the seams as I'm leaving June 7th! Thanks for the start...
