swandav- Thanks,I was not hearing them calling either so now we will head to St.Wolfgang after Mittenwald, then I think to Landshut or Freising,Germany before our flight home out of Munich.

Joannyc-I was able to get reservations at your suggested hotel
this time. I made reservations for four nights and hope that is not too long. It is going to take most of the first day to travel there, however. Looks wonderful and I even saw that they have vegetarian meals. Yeah, yeah!! Thank you.
By the way, nyc I assume means you are from there and I love your
city also.

Violetduck,

I spent 2 nights in St. Wolfgang and wished I had at least 1 more night. I, too, arrived later in the day... spent my last morning in Hallstatt before going to Bad Ischl for lunch, a palace visit, and (first) driving around and around not finding what I was looking for! Then, I was onto St. Wolfgang. So, I don't think 4 nights is too much in order to see the entire area.

They have a desktop computer in the lobby... so you can keep in touch, find restaurants, directions, etc. My single room was small but immaculate, the bathroom was large, and the balcony had a table and 2 chairs. A fruit plate was in my room upon arrival... so with that and the bottle of wine that I had purchased, I was a very happy camper on my flower-laden balcony overlooking the lovely side street for 'cocktail hour'!

The restaurant was good... breakfast was included and eggs made to order are available. If you're a vegetarian, this may not interest you! But, they had a good buffet selection! I also had dinner there one of my two nights.

They have no parking but you can drive to the hotel, check in, take your bags to your room and then they will direct you to the public parking garage.

Yes, nyc is where I live... thanks! I love it, too!

Here's a place in Fuessen where we'll be staying for 3 nights after the Passion Play in Oberammergau. It's cash only but shouldn't be a problem with ATM's all over. And it's just 35-38 Euros per person with breakfast included. Very near the Sonne Hotel.
