Need Hotels in Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Vienna

We will be traveling to Berlin, Prague, Budapest and Vienna in April. We would like recommendations for good hotels that have rooms that are roomy, (with bath), quiet, and close to the center of attractions. We'd like to keep the rate as close to $100. a night as possible. It would be very nice if the hotels were "special", i.e. out of the ordinary. If the hotel has a restaurant or includes breakfast, that would be a big plus.

You might want to try a B&B in Budapest. We stayed at this one and liked it, although breakfast was not enormous.

If your special includes "arty and quirky", then check out the Propeller Island Lodge Hotel in Berlin. (Have a look at the rooms on its website, even if you choose not to stay there. Go to www.propeller-island.com We stayed there in the spring of 2004 and quite liked it.

In Prague we stayed in the Cloister Inn, which was a good price and a good location: not dead center but only about a 15 minute walk away and much quieter. It is pleasant and the room was a good size (only with shower, not bathtub), but the decor was very Ikea-like. Not a lot of charm, but a good value. Breakfast was served, and it was a good value.

In Budapest we stayed at hotel Victoria - very good, big rooms, large bed, very good breakfest, near the Chains bridge, all rooms have view to Parliament and bridge. We paid 100 Euro .
At Berlin we stayed a week and had a studio in a new building, at 9th floor, with kitchen. 49 euro / night. We loved it.If you are interested, I can find the email and internet site.

Thanks for the tip on the Hotel Victoria in Budapest, they're quoting a slightly higher rate, but the hotel looks great. I'm still looking for a hotel in Vienna around $100. I think I have Berlin covered now.

If you will book hotel Victoria, ask for a room from 6th floor till 8th. for good view. The corner rooms have windows that open (numbers X1 and X3, where X is floor number), while in the room in the middle (X2) the windows can not open. For instance, we stayed at 81. At 9th floor the rooms are smaller, but there is balcony. The elevator goes only to 8th floor

In Prague, try the Domus Henrici. Its an easy walk across the bridge and quite close to the castle. Its just wonderful and the rate includes a breakfast that will tide you over until dinner!

I tend to book my Prague accomodation through http://www.a-prague.com/, from the list of hotels, pensions you certainly find accommodation. I was very pleased with their service in helping me find the best match for our location, space and price needs.

In Vienna, we stayed in an apartment through Pension Lerner this past July: http://www.pensionlerner.com/

I don't know what the other rooms looked like but ours had twin beds (our request) and a shower. It was quiet, centrally located, restaurant on the ground floor. High ceilings, spacious kitchen/dining/living area. The rate was 60 euros/night. We were very pleased.
