need hotel recommendation near Reutte Austria

I'm searching for accommodations in the Tirol region. We will be driving from Salzburg to Lauterbrunnen and need a 2 night stay. Looking for village atmosphere.
Thanks!

Hi,

While we only visited, I'd suggest looking at the villages that make up the "Zugspitze Arena" by Reutte. Reutte itself, visited twice as we were in the area, but was never impressed. We wouldn't consider staying there.

Assume you realize this is only a short distance from the Ludwig builds across the border in Germany. Does that interest you at all?

Paul, Dukey1 and anyone else who wants to chime in. We are also looking for lodging in this region around Linderhof/Neuschwanstein area. (we'll be there in 2 weeks)It does not have to be a hotel but preferably less than $150 a night.

Hi,

We stayed in Fuessen, twice, at the Hotel zum Hechten.

We also stayed twice in Mittenwald at the Pension Schalbennestl.

The previously posted link to the "Zugspitze Arena" should have plenty of options also.

Paul, Thanks for the lodging suggestions. I have not made reservations for half the trip, and we go in 2 weeks. We normally wing it, but that has been mid to late June. Should I make reservations?

We normally travel shoulder/off season and always make reservations, so I have no advice for winging it. On our first trip, in early October in the Innsbruck area, we had no reservations. We spent a few frustrating hours finding a place we liked. Never again.

I stayed at Hotel Kurcafe in Fuessen. It was lovely, had a great restaurant and was across the street from the train station (small station and not noisy). Handy if you are wanting to go to the castles. Walked to shops and park. Road the Postal Bus to Ruette one day. This was 10 years' ago, but the town probably hasn't changed much.

You might want to consider the Gutshof Zum Schluxen in Unter Pinswang just off the main road between Reutte and Fussen. It is a delightful Gasthaus on a farm with pet deer and other animals. The also have a nice little restaurant.
