thanks! no balcony though? I'm hoping for one with a balcony and view (and as nice as what you've mentioned).

I certainly would consider staying near the center of the city. You will find that stores close during the middle of the day, often with heavy metal shutters over their windows, so you can't even sight see. Unless you want to spend 3 hours eating lunch, you'll be happy to get back to your hotel without a long walk in order to rest or read until life starts up again. Same applies to going out to dinner, its nice to be near the center and have lots of options without needing a taxi, or long walk along dark streets.

Hi flygirl,

Our suite did not have a balcony. We did have several large windows with different views from the two bedrooms. We could see the Duomo from one of them. However since we were out and about seeing the sights all day long, we found gazing at the frescoed ceilings in our room more interesting than gazing out over the cityscape.

You might check with Gassim (wonderful owner of Hotel Europa) and see if any of the other suites have balconies.

Hi!

I did just that, awaiting reply. Either way sounds like a great hotel.

These suggestions are all great. Does anyone have a website for the Hotel Europa? Thanks so much.

We stayed in the Johlea B&B, Johanna property, and had a wonderful experience - great location within walking distance to many sites, clean, large rooms with beautiful furnishings. Price was reasonable as well. http://www.johanna.it/
Ciao

If you go to the "Download Photos" link, these are photos of the suite, Suite 39, we stayed in (which I believe is called Giotto... but that is just a guess from the pictures).

If you want to book our exact suite then I'd ask for the suite in the above pictures and mention that it is room #39
