Need hotel on Lake Garda and Lake Como

Will be driving from Innsbruck to Lake Garda, then to Lake Como. Any hotel recommendations and highlights to see would be appreciated.

We stayed in two different hotels on Lake Garda last year and liked them both.
Hotel Bellerive in Salo, west side of lake. Lakefront, lovely town. Long lakefront promenade. Hotel Bellerive made our anniversary stay incredibly special. More upscale than our other hotel
Il Castello in Malcesine. It was a nice hotel, nice enough town with medieval core.A famiy owned hotel with caring service.

We recommend the Hotel Metropole Bellagio, located at
Piazza Mazzini 1, 22021 Bellagio. It is a 3 star property (as I recall) well-located near the ferry pier. You mentioned that you would be driving, and I seem to recall some information on that topic, but we arrived on the train and so did not focus on that aspect. In any event, the staff was absolutely wonderful. For example, I left part of the power cord for my Mac laptop at home and soon ran out of juice. They offered to recharge it for me, and then one of the staff remembered that they had recently gotten new desk top units, and gave me one of their extra cords. So I no longer had to even worry about European 220 voltage and adapters!

The rooms are small, but we managed to get on with one regular bed room and another smaller sleeping room with a single bed. The bathroom was small but adequate, and both the breakfast room and the restaurant (located right on the lake) were wonderful.

We would definitely stay there again!

If your budget allows it, Villa Serbollini on Lake Como is amazing in every way!

Varenna on the East shore of Lake Como has several hotels. Many of them are less expensive.

I can recommend the Olivi and the Flaminia in Sirmione on Lake Garda or the Lido in Desenzano.
