Need hotel near Beaune, Vezeley

We're traveling with another couple. On the route back to Paris we would like to stay in the vicinity of Beaune, Vezeley, etc. and we can venture out from there to see the sights. We would prefer something about 85 euros.
Thanks for your help.

For Vezelay, try to find something in Auxerre. I'll try to find the place we stayed there in an old trip report. For Beaune, we stayed at a vineyard about half way between Beaune and Dijon. I;ll look for that too.

Hi loisco,
We stayed at the Hotel Grillon, http://www.hotel-grillon.fr in September for three nights. It is located just outside of Beaune. Our double room without breakfast was 56 euro/night. It was very clean, nice staff, great location for driving through the country. Hope this helps.

Hi; This chateau is outside of Auxerre and near Vezeley. For us it was a good base to visit the sourounding area and within the budget you suggested. The rooms are in the barn that was renovated. Richard www.chateauderibourdin.com/

Loisco:
we were recently very pleased with Hotel Athanor(3*) in Beaune Centre...rates around €90...good free public parking lot two blocks away... Bar, lounge, good service...plenty of breakfast/lunch cafes within a block or two...two blocks from the Hospice...easy access in and out of town. Very nice area of town.

We stayed at the Moulin des Ruats - a converted mill near Auxerre - which has pretty rooms, nice grounds and a great restaurant. But - it was several years ago - so you would need to check on what prices you can get now.

We have also stayed at Hotel Grillon in Beaune and thought it was a very good value.

We have stayed in Vezelay on three different occasions at Hotel de la Poste http://www.laposte-liondor.net/accueil.htm.
We love Vezelay and have really enjoyed staying overnight on the way to or from Paris.

Depending on how long you will be in the area and where all you want to day trip, Beaune may be better suited for a base.

Stayed at Hotel de la Paix in Beaune back in Sept. Terrific rooms, recently renovated, and within easy walking distance of the city center.

Prices are great, too.

Decision was made based on a lot of research.

I remember the name of the hotel in Auxerre, Hotel Parc des Marechaux, It is about 1 block from the city center and nears to many good restaurants. And they have free parking. In fact we dropped our car off at the train station and took the train back to Paris.
