Need hotel in Nice

need hotel in Nice in June, all booked up. Want to be in the "thick of things", cafes, museums etc. Willing to spend on something nice, (clean, good location). Any suggestions?

We stayed at the Hotel Atlantic in September 1999. It was only four blocks from the 'mall' area which contained dozens of restaurants, cafes and stores, another two blocks to the 'beach'. It was very clean, modern, safe, and we were very happy with the location. For what it is worth, the lobby and breakfast room were beautiful too.

We usually stay at the Hotel Gounod, a nice three star hotel, next door to it's parent, the four star Hotel Splendid. [email protected].

Hope this helps.

Lisa-two years ago we stayed at the Sofitel Splendid in Nice. It was a great hotel for a family as we had our two teens with us and it had an outdoor pool on the roof with a fabulous view of Nice.(My husband and I had wine while they swam!) It is a couple blocks from beach(more in residential section ) but we could walk to everything-bus station, train station and the"thick of things". We would have preferred to have been on the beach but everything was booked up. Have you tried all the American chains(Holiday Inn,etc.?)On a different note......... I would like to recommend my daughter's favorite pizza place in the world. It is in Nice on Rue du Massena(big street with LOTS of eating places) and is called Taverna Massena.Everything is cooked in an old woodburning oven(pizza, chickens, etc.) and the smell and taste is to die for.(We are from the chicago area so we know from whence we speak!!!)Also,be sure to have lunch or a snack on top of the Oceanarium in Monaco-spectacular views of the ocean, harbor and town!Email me if you need any info-Debbie

Hi Lisa,

Try booking the Bleu Marine Victoria through Travelocity. I booked a "deluxe single" (a/c, queen-size bed)for the end of May for 505 francs (@$75)per night. My location criteria are exactly like yours. I've been to Nice before and this hotel is well situated, plus it has a garden where breakfast is served!
