Need hotel for Prague and Budapest
Looking for a quiet hotel that is conveniently located (walking). Would like one with some old world atmosphere, but location is more important.
Around $100 Any suggestions? I have done a search. |
My advice is to go with Priceline. Check out www.biddingfortravel.com for approximate prices and bidding strategies. You should be able to get a 4* in Budapest for $50-60 (I got Art'Otel, which I really liked).
Prague's hotels are more expensive, but you should still be able to get a 4* for $70-90. Otherwise, you won't have many decent choices under $100. I myself have stayed in City Inn (their rack rate for a single is around $80, taxes and breakfast included, for a single room). Nothing spectacular, but has clean rooms and is centrally located. |
We stayed at Pension Balbin on Balbinova, near the Muzeum Metro Stop and Wenceslas Square. It is on the top floors of an apartment building with a locked door so safe. The rooms are nice, clean and the buffet breakfast is very good. I think it is a 3* and you can walk just about any where you want to go within 5-10 minutes.

Hi mdv,
We very much liked the Pensione Dientzenhofer. Just a short walk from the Charles Bridge http://www.hotels-of-prague.com/dientzenhoefer/ |
I also recommend the Pension Dientzenhofer. It is located in Mala Strana, a very quiet area, and about a 5 minute walk from the Charles Bridge. The price last October was $125 including breakfast. The staff are very nice and friendly. The pension is the birthplace and/or former home of a well-known Czech architect named Dientzenhofer.

Hotel Charles in the Lesser Town right near the Charles Bridge. Quieter than the Old Town, but close enough to walk easily.

We stayed at the U Lilie pension last June. It's only blocks from the Charles Bridge, in old town, so a great location. It's not the Four Seasons, but it's clean and friendly, with a cold breakfast buffet included. We also considered the Dientzenhofer, which may have been in a slightly quieter location on the other side of the Charles Bridge.
