Need help with pronunciation
Please forgive my ignorance, but I believe this is an Italian bread - focaccia. How is it pronounced?
C is hard (K) before A, O and U. C is soft (S) before I and E. Similar rules for G (hard G or soft SH). When these rules are broken, an I is inserted as in spaghetti and chianti.
I mean of course H is inserted.
Foe -- kash -- yah. Accent on middle syllable.
Sorry, that may have been unclear. The middle syllable is "kahsh".
Roughly foe-cotch'-uh.

It's not that easy to write out a pronunciation; dictionaries use those standard symbols that are explained by analogy.

The soft c in Italian is not pronounced like an s, but like the English tch or sh, depending upon region.
Sorry, I disagree. I believe it is foe-KAH-chuh (rhymes with Oh, gotcha).
Parlo posted while I was preparing my answer. I was disagreeing with xxx, not Parlo, whose pronunciation is basically the same as mine.
