Hello we fly into Frankfurt then on to Nuremberg then on to one more stop (don't know which one) then on to Salzburg. To see Haltstatt we need recommendations as to what order to make our stops. Then Salzburg then we NEED HELP. I would like to leave Salzburg on the 17th of June and we have to be in Frankfurt for july 3rd. It has been suggested that we go to Budapest from Salzburg then do Vienna??? If we did this where should we stop after Salzburg before the next stop. We want to do the Wachau valley trip to Melk do we do that after Vienna on our way to Prague???? What about Durnstein. My geopgrahy is not the best so we really need help. We like guaint villages like to see the Castles but hubby cant walk a lot each day so we have to pace ourselves. Need rest time or down days.
\CAN SOMEONE HELP US PLAN THIS TRIP.

You could do this:
Salzburg, spend some time there, visit places around like Halstatt, then onto Vienna, do a day trip to Wachau, and then Budapest and then Prague and then Frankfurt.

this is a logical order. Are you going by train - then this is easily done. For lots of great info on European trains check these suerpb IMO sources: www. budgeteuropetravel.com; www.ricksteves.com and www.seat61.com. Look into the Eurail Select Saverpass (2 or more folks traveling on trains together on one pass - cheaper than individual passes) - valid in Germany, Austria, Hungary and Czech Republic - hop on any train anytime in those countries and the pass if over 25 is first class, another perk - a big perk IME of decades of European train travel - especially for folks carrying around perhaps too much luggage - more room to stow luggage in first class.

I do not see why that is any better than to do Vienna first, coming from Salzburg, then Budapest - from there you could do an overnight train to Prague or a long day train trip.

But if you want to do a fairly long day time trip Salzburg to Budapest then you could come back to Vienna and then do Prague - toss the coin!

the day trio from Vienna to the fantastic Wachau Valley is easy - take a train to Melk, visit the Uber famous abbey there - head down to the Danube boat dock for boats thru the Wachau Valley to Durnstein - a cute wine town with a famous ruined castle where Richard-the-Lion-Hearted was once held captive for ranson - then take a bus or another boat to Krems, a bigger but pleasant wine city with trains back to Vienna.

Buy an all-inclusive ticket for train, Melk Abbey, boat and train back to Vienna all at once at the Vienna station.
