Need help with Meersburg plans.

We are traveling through Germany in August for about 2 weeks and planned on staying in Meersburg for two nights. But now we cannot find a hotel. The Hotel baeren is booked along with about another dozen ones that we have contacted through email. Does anyoe know of a hotel that we can stay at that might not be booked for the middle of August? I know is it late but we have been looking for about 3 weeks now and we always seem to be just one day late with the reservation request. Maybe anoher town that is located nearby that would be a good place to stay instead? We are budget travelers so need to keep the price range down. Wes, got any suggestins for us? (and the homepage for meersburg is totally in german)
thanks

Hi Julie,

In the first place, Wes is incapacitated for a hopefully short period. Now, too bad about the Baeren. We stayed there the end of May and LOVED it. Herr Gilowsky is a terrific guy. I would email him and see if he can't recommend another hotel in the area. He is pretty "connected" in the area, to put in mildly.

Julie,
Try these 2 websites for good hotels in Meersburg:
>>www.sporthotel-schoenblick.de<< Has a translation button.
>>www.landhaus-meersburg.de<< In German.
You might try Wasserburg, closer to Lindau but very tiny, or Uberlingen, a bit farther north. Both were pleasant towns last time I looked, which unfortunately was about 6 years ago. J.

The www.meersburg.de site, though in German, is your best resource. Go to
http://www.meersburg.de/02tourismus/tourismus_index.html

and click on "Privatzimmer", then when the next page comes up, "suchen". You will have in front of you a list of 28 B&B places in and around Meersburg. These are less likely to be booked in advance than the hotels you are probably checking on the net and will cost you between 30 and 60 Euros per night for a double with breakfast.

These innkeepers may not speak English, so it may be easier for you to just talk to the tourist office, where people do speak English, and have them book in your behalf:

TI: 07532/43110
fax, 07532/431120
