Need help with location of Paris apartment

Hi everyone.

We're thinking about renting this apartment in the 5th.

We don't know Paris very well and would appreciate your thoughts on the location.

Thanks!

It looks very nice, and the location is great.

Does anybody else have any comments, particularly about the location of the apartment? I just don't know enough about Paris to compare neighborhoods. The other apartment we're considering is one of the Parisperfect apartments in the 7th. I really would appreciate your help. Thanks.

What other comments are you seeking? The location is excellent for sure. According to the description it is located closeby the Luxembourg Gardens. You are near quite a few sights: Musee de Cluny, Pantheon, rue Mouffetard, the Seine, etc. Lots of cafes and restaurants abound as well as different shops.

Personally I recommend you stay in the 5th than the 7th. I find the 7th, while very beautfiul and residential, to be lots quieter than the 5th. Depends on what type of atmosphere you are seeking also.

Gorgeous...a great location from which to walk around and get the feel of the town

looks wonderful! you're in the not too touristy part of the 5th, and with easy access to everything. i was recently looking for a flat there myself.

it's a lovely apt., and if it fits your needs and budget, i would go for it.

have fun!

I agree, it's a great location. It's about at the corner of rue St Jacques and rue de l'Abbe de l'Epee, apparently. That's fairly convenient because I think there is an RER stop entrance right at the end of that street (as well as another one a bit farther north -- it's the same stop, Luxembourg. There are lots of small shops along rue St Jacques for groceries, food, wine, etc. The only thing really lacking would be a large supermarket in that area, but that wouldn't bother me for a vacation stay. There are plenty of small grocers. There are bus lines around there (one going down rue Gay Lussace, and some on bd St Michel, etc. It isn't near a metro stop, so some locations near a variety of intersecting metro lines might have more convenient transportation, but really, this is pretty good. You can't have everything, and I also would prefer this location to where the Parisperfect apts. are.

Thanks everyone. This is exactly the kind of feedback I was hoping for. I appreciate all of you for taking the time to respond.

Just wanted to include that I stayed in a hotel on rue de l'Abbe de l'Epee and it is a fantastic location. The street is small and you can walk out on rue Gay Lussac down to Blvd. St. Michel to the Seine in around 15-20 minutes depending on how fast/slow you walk. You'll be just a few minutes' walk from the Pantheon and perhaps 10 minutes from Rue Mouffetard and Place de la Contrescarpe. You'll love the area.

Just joing the chorus. It's a great location, not far from where I used to live. Please post a report on the place when you get back.

We stayed at a ParisPerfect apt in the 7E last winter. The location was great for us, but we have been to Paris several times and walk a great deal. The apt itself was beautiful, but it was a good walk to sights, etc., if this is your first time. The neighborhood was great - lots of shops, restaurants, and within a few blocks of the metro.

I'm not familiar with other rentals in Paris, but I can say that dealing with the folks at ParisPerfect was terrific. They answered all my emails promptly, gave me lots of info on the area, met me at the apt, etc. I would use them again.
